About me

I have been riding since I was 6 years old and got interested in horsemanship training (or what could generically be called "natural horsemanship") in 1998, since that time I have really done some thinking about horses and our relationship with them.

My favourite passtime is taking my daughter out with her lovely Shetland pony and, if I get the time to myself these days, long distance riding. I enjoy competitive endurance riding, dressage, jumping, Trec, horse agility and working with young horses.

I have been teaching and coaching for the last 25 years in a range of subjects from business management to sailing and now horsemanship. I work around Europe teaching horsemanship clinics in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark. I am one of Mark Rashid's student instructors which gives me the opportunity to go his clinics around the world and assist with teaching his students and I am also one of Steve Halfpenny's associate instructors.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Behaviour and I think its really important to interpret the information that we get from our horses as accurately as possible. Misunderstanding body language and emotions can lead to unnecessary punishment which damages our relationship. I am a qualified Equine Sports Massage Therapist.

Often horses are reflecting issues which their human partners are experiencing. If the human is frightened the horse is sure to reflect this, if the human is distracted and inattentive, its really likely that their horse is behaving the same way. Becuase it seemed to me that so many issues that people seemed to be having with their horses were actually more to do with "human stuff", I studied NLP and coaching so that I could have some skills to help people in this area. I am a NLP Master practitioner, NLP Sports practitioner and Life Coach. I really enjoy working with issues such as fears about riding, concerns about jumping and also mental skills work to enhance performance of competitive riders.

I teach students in my local area as well as running horsemanship clinics. If you are intersted in hosting a clinic in your area please get in touch.

I live in the New Forest, Hampshire, England with my husband, Peter, daughter Katie and 4 horses.
